Deck Stains and Finishes

The Semi-Transparent stain allows the natural beauty of the board's wood grain to show through, and will not cover a Solid Body stain if used before. Typically Semi-Transparent stains require a little more maintenance coats to get to the level of near maintenance free, while on the other hand, Solid Body stains tend to crack and peel over time, especially heavy traffic areas. Both have there advantages and disadvantages. Very difficult going from one to the other, but can be done with much more work involved. Staying with either type is recommended over the duration, allows less work applying a regular maintenance coat, which is needed in Colorado's high altitude's climate.
